We discuss and emphasize continual learning during Valiant Marketing Group meetings, and talk about the strategies we can use to encourage this habit. These are some of our top tips:
• Put Yourself in Position: Starting a project is almost always the most difficult step, and this goes for developing habits as well. Rather than try and just make it happen, our Valiant Marketing Group recommendation is to create an environment in which the desired trait is easily established. For instance, it’s tough to focus on learning something new if you’re tired, or hungry, or sick, so focusing on sleep, healthy eating, and exercise makes it easier to acquire knowledge.
• Spend Learning Time Wisely: We all have 24 hours in a day, and it’s just enough time for us to do what we need to – if we’re focused on doing what matters most, and not wasting our efforts meaninglessly. While there will be times when it’s necessary to learn something that we’re not 100 percent thrilled about, for the most part we concentrate on those topics and skills about which we are excited.
• Cater to Your Personal Style: Everyone has a learning style that they find most effective. We take time to establish what ours is, and then we find ways to gain information based on that internal preference. Technology has opened up a world of possibilities in the form of YouTube, Coursera, The Great Courses, and Meetup.
Every day is a chance to learn and grow as a person.
